2 new full-day bus lanes
Tue, Aug 26, 2008
AsiaOne

From Monday, September 1, two stretches of normal bus lanes along Geylang Road and Sims Avenue will be converted into full-day bus lanes.

The full-day bus lane scheme operates from 7.30am to 8pm on all weekdays and Saturdays, except public holidays. Currently, these two stretches of normal bus lanes operate only during peak hours on weekdays.

The extension has been implemented to allow buses to move quickly and make public transport a more favourable choice.

According to surveys, what bus commuters find most important is waiting time and travelling time, said a Land Transport Authority statement. As buses are more efficient carriers of commuters, it is necessary to give priority to buses so that more commuters reach their destinations on time, the statement added.
