Wed, Sep 24, 2008
The Straits Times

TWO Malaysians who drove into Singapore in stolen Malaysian registered vehicles last month were jailed for a year by a district court on Wednesday.

Loo Shing Lip, 19, was promised RM500 (S$207) to bring in the Toyota Avanza on Aug 13, while Low Tong Chiu, 49, stood to earn RM1,000 for driving in a Toyota Hilux.

The court heard that both men, who pleaded guilty to dishonestly retaining stolen property, were jobless and desperate for money.
