Student killed in head-on crash

KOTA TINGGI, MALAYSIA - An 18-year-old student was killed when the car he was in skidded and collided with an oncoming car at the 39.5 kilometre of the Johor Baru-Mersing road.

Chong Jiaun Bon, from SMK Laksamana here, was killed at the scene in the 12.30am incident.

The car driver Thai Ayub Abdullah and another passenger Michell Chin, 16, sustained serious injuries and have been warded at the hospital here.

Civil servant Zainal Abidin, 47, the driver of the other car, escaped unhurt.

Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Osman Mohamed Sebot said police have yet to establish the relationship between the driver and his passengers.

He urged eyewitnesses to call the police hotline at 07 2212 999.
