KUALA TERENGGANU, MALAYSIA: It may be the envy of many but even a luxury car cannot escape the long arm of the law.

A red 2006 Ferrari F430-F1 was seized by the Road Transport Department for not having proper registration.

Valued at RM1.6 million, the Ferrari, believed to be owned by a 25-year-old businessman, was stopped by RTD officers in Jalan Mengabang Tengah in Batu Rakit at 8.45pm on Wednesday.

State RTD director Fauzi Harun said the car was spotted with different registration numbers and checks revealed that it was not registered with the department.

"The car was not supposed to be on the road without a valid road tax sticker."

"The driver, a man from Kampung Gong Tok Nasek, also had a fake driving licence."

Fauzi said the car had been handed over to the Customs Department for investigations.
