From Oct 17, commuters will be able to plan their journeys more easily and conveniently with real-time public transport information.

Two initiatives, the PublicTransport@SG and Real-Time SMS Bus Arrival Information (SMS-BA), have been launched by the LTA to help commuters in planning their journeys.

Up-to-date public transport information

PublicTransport@SG is a one-stop public transport portal which provides information covering all public transport operators.

Commuters can visit the public transport portal, PublicTransport@SG (www.publictransport.sg) to access up-to-date public transport related information for all public transport operators.

Its features include interactive maps for basic and premium bus routes, location of public transport nodes such as bus stops, interchanges, MRT/LRT stations, and the Park and Ride carpark locations.

PublicTransport@SG also makes available the Public Transport Guide, taxi service information, real-time bus arrival information along the Western academic belt and the 50 bus stops installed with the Real-Time Bus Arrival panels.

The Western academic belt includes academic institutions such as National University of Singapore, Singapore Polytechnic and several other secondary and primary schools.

Manage waiting time with SMS-BA

SMS-BA is a real-time Short Message Service (SMS) bus arrival information service.

With SMS-BA, commuters will be able to retrieve real-time bus arrival information via SMS. The service will cover both SBS Transit and SMRT bus services, thus complementing SBS Transit's iris system.

The SMS service is on trial for six months starting from Oct 10. It covers the 166 bus stops along the Western academic belt.
