Commuters traveling on weekdays can look forward to shorter waits and more comfortable train rides starting 24 October 2008.

SMRT will be adding a total of 112 train trips per week to its services just before morning peak hours, during evening peak hours and in the evenings on weekdays.

These additional train trips are not applicable to public holidays during weekdays.

However, extra train services during the year-end festive season are planned. SMRT anticipates higher ridership as people head into town for shopping, said Mr Tan.

This is the fourth significant train service enhancement by SMRT since February 2008.

With the latest improvements, SMRT would have added about 900 extra train trips per week this year.
