Bus inspector who forced passenger off disciplined
>Over the weekend, AsiaOne readers were up in arms over an incident where a SBS transit bus inspector forced a passenger off a bus along the expressway.
Both the ticket inspector and the bus captain have "failed to exercise due care for the safety" of the passenger, AsiaOne regular reader Chan WM said in AsiaOne forums.
"Mindlessly efficient is bad enough; mercilessly 'efficient' is much much worst," adds another AsiaOne regular bennybkc.
Most readers agreed on one thing: that disciplinary action should be taken.
Mr Kamal, an AsiaOne reader, took things a step further. He wrote an e-mail to SBS Transit's Chief Operating Officer Mr Gan Juay Kiat to seek an answer.
In a reply to Mr Kamal, Ms Grace Wu, Assistant Vice President of Corporate Communications, SBS Transit, said, "We are aware of this incident and have already taken severe disciplinary action against the staff concerned."
Ms Wu added that "the staff had flouted company procedure" and had "compromised the safety of the passenger."
Such behaviour, she stated, is not condoned among their staff as "passenger safety is of paramount importance."
"Our staff are aware that boarding and alighting activities can only be conducted at designated bus stops." she said.
