Regulate Toa Payoh rise traffic
Fri, Oct 31, 2008
My Paper

Toa Payoh Rise is a strange road. A short section of the road, from the bend to the gate of Avondale Grammar School (AGS), is one-way.

It allows traffic from Lorong 1 Toa Payoh to Thomson Road only.

But traffic flow from Thomson Road is stopped by a "No Entry" sign.

This section of the road is frequently abused by deliverymen returning from errands from Thomson Road, who ride their motorbikes against the flow of traffic on the pedestrian walkway.

It poses a danger to the many pedestrians heading to the Singapore School for the Visually Handicapped and members of the Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped.

The "No Entry" sign for lorries near the AGS gate has also been ignored by drivers of concrete mixers.

I hope the authorities can look into this matter.
