KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA: Edaran Otomobil Nasional Bhd (EON) will today inspect the entire fleet of Proton cars owned by the Selangor government, including the damaged Perdana V6 Executive used by state exco member Ronnie Liu.

EON managing director Datuk Syed Hisham Syed Wazir and Proton Edar chief executive officer Mohamed Shukor Ibrahim will lead the inspection teams.

EON, in a press statement yesterday, said Syed Hisham had contacted Liu, who is the state Local Government, Research and Development Committee chairman, and arranged for today's inspection.

The move by EON followed allegations that it had refused to service the state-owned Proton Perdana V6 Executive used by Liu, resulting in Liu's car bonnet flying open and smashing into the windscreen on Thursday.

Liu had claimed that EON's refusal to service his car nearly cost him his life.

Liu said his driver had taken the four-year-old vehicle to the EON service centre in Glenmarie as the latter found it hard to shut the bonnet.

However, his driver was declined service as the staff at the service centre claimed that the state government still owed them money from previous repair jobs.

Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said on Saturday that the state government would settle all outstanding payments to EON as it had sufficient allocations.

Proton Holdings Bhd expressed concern over the incident involving Liu's car.

Proton said it viewed the matter seriously and would investigate the incident thoroughly to determine the cause.
