'Discount' on ERP rates

By Tony Ng

The incoming school holidays will bring some cheer to motorists.

The Land Transport Authority has announced 'discounts' on electronic road-pricing (ERP) rates during the December school break with effect from Nov 15.

Most ERP rates on roads leading into the city will be reduced by $1. For example, the CTE gantry north of Braddell Road will have an ERP charge of $1.50, down from the original $2.50.

Roads with ERP rates of $1 and below will have their charges removed. Motorists would be able to enter roads such as Bendemeer Road, Thomson Road and Toa Payoh Lorong 6 for free.

The revised rates will end on Jan 2, 2008.

Rates for other gantries remain unchanged.
