GM Daewoo mulls production halt as sales fall

SEOUL, KOREA - Unlisted GM Daewoo Automotive and Technology Co, South Korea's No.3 auto maker, said on Tuesday it was considering a temporary suspension in its car production during December due to falling overseas exports.

GM Daewoo, a unit of General Motors , is expected to decide in late November whether to carry out the plan, a spokesman told Reuters by telephone.

GM Daewoo has three car factories and one engine plant in South Korea.

The global automobile industry is struggling with shrinking sales as the financial crisis spreads around the world.
