Free SMS to iris NextBus?

MY DAUGHTER was sending an SMS to iris NextBus to check for bus arrival times, and told me that it cost only 5 cents per SMS.

I was also given the same information by people around me.

I was also told that SMSes sent to iris would be considered as part of the free SMSes which are bundled with telco mobile subscription plans.

A check on the SBS Transit website confirmed this as well.

However, when I received my mobile-subscription bill from SingTel, I noticed that I had been charged an additional 5 cents for the SMS to iris.

The telco explained that the additional charge of 5 cents was for the service provided by SBS Transit.

That means that the total charge for checking bus-arrival times through iris NextBus is 10 cents, which is double the amount indicated on the SBS Transit website.

I then called SBS Transit, but was told that it was not the case.

I am confused and upset by what looks like a double charge to me.

Could either SingTel or SBS Transit shed some light on the matter?
