SHAH ALAM, MALAYSIA - For the third time this year, Thai police have returned stolen Malaysian vehicles found in Songkhla to local authorities.

The vehicles, returned earlier this month, were eight Perodua Kancil and a Yamaha motorcycle. They were said to be stolen from the Klang Valley over the past two years.

Federal Criminal Investigation Department principal assistant director Senior Assistant Commissioner II Chee Cheng Wan said Thai police had contacted their Malaysian counterparts earlier this month to inform them about the recovery of the vehicles.

"We have been working closely with the authorities there as we know there are quite a number of vehicles which have been stolen and smuggled into Thailand," he said yesterday.

Chee said, upon being notified, a team of officers were despatched to Songkhla to bring the vehicles back on Nov 11.

Chee said in May, Thai police returned three stolen vehicles to Kedah police and another four were returned to Kelantan police in June.
