KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA - Having taken the new Ferrari-powered A1GP season by storm, Malaysia's top racing driver Fairuz Fauzy has now been immortalised on limited edition postage stamps.

Fairuz Fauzy hopes his race fans will like this memorabilia.

The 26-year-old A1 Team Malaysia pilot is the first local racing driver to be portrayed on a postage stamp, launched last Sunday to commemorate Fairuz's victory in the opening round of the A1GP at the Zandvoort Circuit in the Netherlands on Oct 5.

This souvenir stamp is on an envelope which depicts the A1 Team Malaysia car and Fairuz celebrating his maiden A1GP victory.

The stamp and envelope set is a limited edition of 50,000 pieces, available at the Sepang Circuit store or via online purchase through www.mofazdirect.net.

"The idea of producing a celebration stamp was put to me when I arrived in Malaysia after the China (second) round of the series," said Fairuz.
"Within two days or so this idea had turned into reality and I was holding this very special collector's edition stamp set. I'm very proud to have my image on a genuine postage stamp. It's a very different item of memorabilia, and I hope our race fans will like this."

A1 Team Malaysia commercial director Owen Leed said this was a unique way of celebrating the achievement of a racing driver.

"This is the first time that a Malaysian racing driver has been portrayed on a postage stamp and we are delighted that Fairuz's achievement has been celebrated in such a unique way.

"Not only is it an exclusive souvenir but it will also be seen by thousands of people when it is used for postage by our fans."
