Next stop - Haw Par Villa. And that's not referring to the iconic cultural park but a new train station in Singapore.
Names for new stations along the Downtown Lines and Circle Line (CCL) have been finalised, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced on Tuesday.
One of the CCL stations, West Coast, has been christened Haw Par Villa and another, Thomson, will officially be named Caldecott, following approval by the Street and Building Names Board (SBNB).
These stations were not included in the station naming exercise in 2005 as they were initially designated as shell stations, LTA said.
However the Minister for Transport announced early last year that LTA will fit out both stations to be opened together with the other CCL stations.
For Downtown Line 1 (DTL1), the names of Chinatown, Promenade and Bugis stations remain unchanged as they are the names of interchange stations. The remaining three DTL1 stations are named - Telok Ayer, Downtown and Bayfront.
LTA also announced finalised names for nine Downtown Line 2 (DTL2) stations, which were drawn from some 3,000 public suggestions and put to a polling exercise.
Consultations with relevant bodies like the Housing Development Board (HDB), the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) and grassroots leaders were also conducted in the process.
The new stations will be called Rochor, Stevens, Tan Kah Kee , Sixth Avenue, King Albert Park, Beauty World, Hillview, Cashew and Bukit Panjang.
