All-electric i MiEV to go on UK trial

The all-electric Mitsubishi i MiEV city car is set to play a prominent role in one of UK's recently announced Ultra Low Carbon Vehicle Demonstrator projects.

Mitsubishi will showcase its award-winning all-electric i MiEV city car, with 25 vehicles going on the road as part of the trial from November this year.

The trial will receive £25 million (S$59.4 million) from the UK government to help speed up the introduction of low carbon vehicles.

A total of approximately three hundred and forty vehicles will begin trials on UK roads within the next six to eighteen months, which makes this the biggest project of its kind.

The i MiEV has a top speed of around 140kph and can travel up to 128 kilometres. According to Mitsubishi, it can also carry four adult passengers and luggage - all in comfort.

Recharge from flat to full takes six hours via a 240v UK supply.

Those who're in a hurry will appreciate the fast-charge. It goes from flat to 80 per cent in about half an hour.
