Car prices maintained regardless of COE increase

COEs have increased across the board since the last bidding exercise on Wednesday. But prices for several marques have been maintained. They include Mazda, Honda and Fiat. A Jazz goes for $69,900 onwards.

At that price level, there is also a saloon alternative - the Renault Megane which goes for $69,999. It comes with a 3-year warranty and 3-year roadside assistance.

The dealer for Toyota, Borneo Motors, has also made things easier on the pocket for first-time car buyers.

It is absorbing the interest payment over the full loan period and GST for all Cat A models (Altis, Vios and Yaris).

A five-year unlimited mileage warranty and bodyshine programme should dispel doubts of reliability that has dogged the Japanese carmaker. www.toyotasingapore.com.sg

It has also lowered the price of the ubiquitous Wish by $3,000 to $99,988. The MPV comes with a five-year free servicing and unlimited mileage warranty.
