The COI will then make recommendations and consider the suggestions of SMRT, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) to improve train operations, prevent the recurrence of such disruptions and enhance the management of such incidents.

After the inquiry, the COI will prepare a report with its findings and recommendations. The report is to be submitted to the MOT.

In preparation of the hearing, the COI are currently reviewing documents submitted by SMRT, LTA and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

The COI, together with representatives from SMRT and LTA, has previously visited the affected stretches of the third rail that supply electrical power to the trains in the tunnels and SMRT's Operations Control Centre.

All parties also visited SMRT's Bishan Depot where they examined various parts of the trains such as the Train Operators' cabins, train Current Collector Devices, auxiliary batteries and backup ventilation systems.

So far, 28 people have submitted feedback on disruptions. These emails and letters have been forwarded to the CID to consider. The AGC will decide which of the 28, if any, to call as witnesses during the hearing.

Public feedback will still be accepted throughout the hearing duration. All persons who wish to give evidence at the inquiry should contact the committee's Secretary, Mr Sidney Koh, at the following address:
