LTA submits investigation report on December's MRT disruptions

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has submitted to the Committee of Inquiry (COI) its report investigating the December 15 and 17 MRT service disruptions, said LTA in a statement to the media issue last night.

In December last year, the Minister for Transport convened a Committee of Inquiry (COI) to investigate into two major service disruptions on the North-South Line (NSL) between Marina Bay and Ang Mo Kio MRT stations when train services were disrupted for about 12 hours, affecting over 220,000 passengers.

As the regulator, LTA formed a multi-disciplinary investigation team to establish the cause of the incidents, evaluate how the incidents were managed, make recommendations to prevent a recurrence, and how to better manage such incidents in future.

The report is submitted ahead of the COI's first hearing of the disruptions. The hearing will take place on Monday, April 16 at Court 1 of the Subordinate Courts.

The LTA has said it will cooperate fully with the COI and follow up on its findings and recommendations.
