SINGAPORE - A Malaysian man was Monday charged in court for causing the death of a pedestrian on October 28, 2011.
Phang Yiap Choy, 28, allegedly did not give way to Madam Ng Sew Hong (pictured above), 67, at a pedestrian crossing in Yishun. The driver of an SMRT bus hit Madam Ng as he was making a right turn from Yishun Central 1 into Yishun Avenue 2.
Phang, who faces three charges in total, is also accused of not stopping after the incident to help, reported The Straits Times.
The hit-and-run driver instead fled to Malaysia. Seven hours after the incident happened, Phang turned himself in at the Woodlands checkpoint where he was arrested.
The case continues next Friday.
