Formula One racing fan Ashvin Sandhu has never missed watching a single race since she got hooked on the motorsport four years ago.
This year, the 21-year-old gets the chance to be right in the middle of all the action at the SingTel F1 Singapore Grand Prix, as she is one of the top eight SingTel Grid Girls unveiled yesterday afternoon at the Grand Hyatt Hotel.
Dressed in newly-designed uniforms, the eight finalists, aged between 18 and 23, were selected from about 100 applicants through a series of auditions.
The top three will be crowned at the final SingTel F1 roadshow in East Coast Park on Sept 2. They will be chosen by the public through Facebook and SMS voting.
The trio will be holding the Singapore, F1 and Singapore GP flags, and stand in front of the starting grid on race day on Sept 23.
Ashvin, who is waiting to enter university, wants to meet her two favourite F1 racers, McLaren's Lewis Hamilton and Jensen Button.
Citing Hamilton's title-winning performance in 2008 - the year she started watching F1 - as the reason she started to support the Briton, she said: "I'd be honoured just to get an autograph."
Another Grid Girl, Emily Chia, is also a big fan of Hamilton.
Said the 21-year-old: "He was the youngest F1 racer when he first started out, and that inspires me a lot, because I believe it's not so easy to be the youngest."
Hamilton was then 22 years old.
