More Malaysian mechanics being hired by S'pore companies

MALAYSIA - Sin Chew Daily reported that more Malaysian mechanics were being hired by Singaporean companies because they were more experienced.

A workshop manager, who wanted to be known as Chong, 47, said Singaporean youths did not want to venture into the industry as they found the job tough and its salary low.

He said hiring an experienced Malaysian mechanic would only cost about S$1,700 (RM4,250) compared to an inexperienced Singaporean, who would want between S$1,800 and S$2,000 (RM4,320 and RM5,000).
