Three killed when bus overturns

SANDAKAN - Three men were killed when the express bus they were travelling in overturned.

All 38 passengers including the dead - Jabar Maidin, 54, Piyan Ardian Shah, 23, and Usman Sulaiman, 46 - were on their way to Tawau, in Sabah's east coast for the Raya holidays when the accident occurred at 3 am yesterday.

The accident near Kampung Paris 2, at the 121st kilometre of the Sandakan-Lahad Datu road saw several other passengers injured with at least six of them receiving outpatient treatment at the Lahad Datu and Kinabatangan Hospital.

A spokesman for the Sabah traffic police urged motorists and bus operators to be extra cautious during their trips this holiday season.
