SINGAPORE - The first of three specially designed Singapore editions of the McLaren MP4-12C was unveiled yesterday, ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix races.
The Singapore Edition is a collaboration between McLaren and authorised distributor Wearnes Automotive.
Held at an exclusive event at the Conrad Centennial Friday evening, the black beauty with striking red infused into the body and interior was presented to the customer by Mr Ron Dennis, executive chairman of McLaren Automotive.
While all its specifications remain the same, the exterior of the supercar was designed specially to the customer's preferences, which was influenced by the colours of Mika Hakkinen's racing days.
The car's front and rear bumpers are inspired by the HS Edition and the GT3 race car.
To further enhance its street credentials, the ultra lightweight rims feature 19" (front) and 20" (rear) diamond-cut spokes in black and the McLaren logo is printed on the underside of the Airbrake, so that it is visible when the car is in 'Aero' mode or under heavy braking.
Open the dihedral doors and emblazoned prominently on the sides of the sills are the specially-designed "SINGAPORE EDITION" branding with the head of a lion to symbolise the country.
Wearnes Automotive did not reveal the cost of the Singapore Edition. It said the retail price for the bespoke 12C Singapore Edition cars will be available to customers upon application.
However, you could try and estimate the cost as the bumpers alone add about $150,000 to the usual $850,000 (without COE) price tag.
Currently, there is still one unit available for sale in Singapore.
