It has been one of the busiest weeks for the car industry, with events crammed more tightly than en bloc sales.

On Monday, Honda agent Kah Motor opened its revamped and expanded Alexandra Road showroom.

Costing some $8.5 million, the sprawling single-storey facility has a modern all-white interior partially lit by skylight. The 20,000 sq ft facility, which took nearly two years to build, can accommodate 20 cars inside and a few more outside.

Its workshop capacity has been expanded by 30 per cent. And those who leave their cars there for servicing now have another option of getting to work (or home). Honda Diracc - the car-sharing scheme that makes use of hybrid Civics - has set up a port at the new showroom.

On Wednesday, Audi held a champagne dinner at ONE?15 Marina Club on Sentosa - a suitable excuse to show off its line of sporty models.

These included the S3, S8, RS4 Cabriolet, TT Roadster and the S5 (which won't be available for some months yet). The occasion also marked a decision by the German carmaker to assume the role of importer here, joining the likes of Mercedes and BMW.

On the same day, Mercedes-Benz held a half-day event at the recently opened Dempsey Hill to herald the arrival of the new C-class.

It took half a day because there was lunch, followed by spa treatment, followed by more food and drinks, followed by a test-drive.

On Thursday, BMW agent Performance Motors held a preview of its new privilege programme for 7-series customers.

It transformed its Dunearn Road showroom into Perth - the new destination of its getaway scheme for people who buy the flagship model. Previously, customers went to Phuket to enjoy the privilege of ownership.

In Perth, 7-series customers can choose to stay either at the InterContinental Perth Burswood (those who like the city) or the Seashells Resort Mandurah (those who prefer the sea).

Golfers will also get to tee off at The Cut, a course which offers the scent and sight of the ocean.

And like in Phuket, customers will get the use of a yacht. Performance Motors is also throwing in a few other sweeteners, such as car grooming, advanced driver training and chauffeur services.

It is the only car distributor offering such a comprehensive reward programme for its best customers.

Finally, yesterday, Fiat agent TTS Eurocars launched the new and stunning Fiat Bravo.

There are three versions available. A 1.4-litre 90-horsepower going for $79,900, a turbocharged 1.4-litre 150-horsepower retailing at $90,000, and you can have a sunroof version of the latter for $94,900 (all with COE).

But if you have a 3A driving licence, look elsewhere, because the cars are all six-speed manuals.
