BMW has unveiled the new M3 coupe - all 420 horsepower of it. The new car is 22.5 per cent more powerful than the previous one launched six years ago.

Powered by a high-revving 4-litre V8, the new car will have a six-speed manual gearbox and a variable M differential. There should also be a version with a dual-clutch robotised gearbox (DKG) early next year.

It could well be quicker to the 100kmh mark than the manual, which does it in 4.8 seconds.

The M3 is scheduled to be launched in Singapore towards the end of the year.
