THE Singapore Petroleum Company (SPC) and market leader ExxonMobil became the first companies to raise pump prices at their petrol stations following the GST hike that took effect yesterday.

The two companies increased prices across the board for their three grades of petrol and diesel by 0.23 cents to 0.33 cents per litre from 7am.

Motorists will now have to pay $1.77 per litre for 98-octane petrol and $1.233 per litre for diesel. 95-octane now costs $1.696 per litre while 92-octane is at $1.663 per litre, all before discounts.

Caltex will be increasing its pump prices today, a spokesman said. It will charge the same prices for all grades, except for its premium 98-octane, which will cost $1.936 per litre, before discounts.

Shell is not raising its pump prices for the moment, a spokesman said.

The last time petrol stations raised pump prices was three months ago, when SPC, together with ExxonMobil, Shell and Caltex, hiked prices by 10 cents in response to higher global oil prices.
