I get a high-pitched screeching or whining sound on starting my car's engine. What's the problem?
It would be difficult to know where the noise is coming from without checking the vehicle.
Try switching off the air-conditioner when the noise occurs. If the noise disappears as soon as the air-conditioner is switched off, the problem is with the air-con system, such as belting, pulley or other related components.
If the noise remains after you've switched it off, the problem could be due to the alternator belting, pulley or some air leakage in the air induction system.
