How to choose your carputer

TRULY MOBILE COMPUTERS

Full fledged carputer
From $2,300
Available at Lifetron www.carputer.sg Call 6841-5585

First, decide on the form factor. Most cars have two head-unit spaces, measured
in what the industry refers to as DINs. The carputers come in single- and
double-DIN sizes, the standard sizes of car head-units.

If you go for the double-DIN system, the entire head-unit area will be occupied
by a fixed 7-inch LCD screen.

If you are the type who likes to impress your friends, consider the single-DIN
system.

In this system, you need one single-DIN unit for the computer and a second
single-DIN unit for the LCD screen. When the screen is retracted, the system
looks like a typical car audio head-unit with a radio at the top and a CD
player at the bottom.

If you want to keep your existing single-DIN audio system, you can add the
single-DIN computer and then mount the LCD display on your dashboard.

For $2,300, you get:

Single-DIN system with retractable 7-inch LCD touch screen Windows XP
600MHz ultra-low voltage Intel processor
1GB RAM, 80GB hard disk drive, two USB ports
DVD player and AM/FM radio
Extras include GPS, rear-view camera, USB hub for more ports, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi,
3G router for Internet access, connection to on-board diagnostics.

Multimedia player with GPS
Available at Innovasia www.innovasiatech.com Call 6352-6030
These Smart-I multimedia computers only come in double-DIN sizes.

For $999, you get:

7-inch LCD touch screen
DVD player, one USB port, one SD slot, AM/FM radio
For $1,699 you get all of the above plus GPS hardware and software.
