The New Paper
A cinema in your own car

HE spends a lot of his time in his car, heading out to meet clients, driving up to Malaysia for road trips, or just waiting for his family while they shop.

So for Mr Adrian Ho, 38, a senior account director at an ad agency, the Pioneer AVH-P5150DVD in-car entertainment DVD unit could not have come in more handy.

The $1,699 Pioneer entertainment unit was one of the prizes Mr Ho won for coming in first in the The New Paper SUVival challenge.

It comes with a 7-inch LCD touch screen and iPod, iPhone and USB direct connection.

It can play DVDs, VCDs, CDs, and even DivX movies that have been burnt on a DVD from a computer.

Said Mr Ho: 'I think the screen is huge for a car. It's big enough for you to get a cinema-like experience.'

Mr Ho gave a thumbs-up for the sound and picture quality.

He also appreciated the anti-glare coated surface of the LCD screen.

He said: 'You can see the pictures clearly in the daytime, and from all angles.'

He felt the interface was user-friendly, and the remote control could allow passengers to enjoy and make adjustments to the movie without bothering the driver.

The unit can also be hooked to a GPS navigator, and is compatible with most brands of reverse safety cameras.

Said Mr Ho: 'This looks like it has more features than a home DVD player.'
