Holux 5inch GPSmile62 PRO

By Yeong Ah Seng

GPS navigation devices are making their way into the local car population.

The usability of such a device rests largely on the screen size, ability to quickly pick up GPS signals, the software plus maps available.

Holux has been sending out one improved model after another - the latest, with a 5inch screen and a slimmer profile, should improve legibility.

It also has new Papago! software that features 3D landmarks and buildings, junction view of expressway entrances and exits, predictive postal code and address search.

And it comes with Malfreemaps covering Singapore, Peninsula Malaysia, East Malaysia and Brunei, which are updated weekly.

GPSmile62 is Bluetooth enabled with 1GB of built-in memory (with microSD extension slot) and has a charging port built into the windscreen mount. GPS acquisition time from cold start is about 36 seconds.
