No point in raising hue and cry

MR NEO POH GOON: "Most car owners buy their cars for convenience rather than necessity. That being the case, they must be prepared to pay added costs to run their cars.

There is no point in raising a hue and cry when a new gantry is erected. We have the best road infrastructure in this part of the world.

Widening roads, and building expressways, tunnels, bridges and underpasses - all these cost money.

Also consider the protective railings and street lights on all our roads. My late mother used to tell me that Singapore looked like a fairyland when she looked out from an aircraft at night.

While you are driving, look at all the trees and flowering shrubs that line the road. If not for the certificate of entitlement, road tax and Electronic Road Pricing charges, how would we be able to maintain our roads?

Nothing is free. So, if you are a car owner, be mindful you have to pay those little extras to drive along our beautiful roads."
