How does one end up getting parking fines despite having a season parking ticket for a 1400-lot carpark at your house?
Only if you live at Block 136, Yishun Ring Road, like Mr Wang.
The 56-year-old highlighted the lack of parking lots for season ticket holders to Chinese evening daily Lianhe Wanbao.
He is forced to park at the double yellow lines whenever he returns from work in the dead of the night.
Twice, he was fined $50 for parking illegally.
Another resident, Mr Lin, told the paper that his company allows him and his brother, who are both goods delivery men, to drive the company van back home. The company also permitted them to buy a season parking ticket for the company vehicle.
The elder Mr Lin said he does not dare to park illegally even though there are no available lots near his house.
He said: "Once, I saw an entire row of cars that was fined for parking at the double-yellow line."
If there are no lots, he would end up parking more than 10 blocks again.
He said: "It takes me 30 minutes each time to go to my car and back again."

Mr Wang couldn't find a parking lot after
returning home so he parked illegally. And
was twiced fined $50. |
Mr Lin added: "A carpark that's much nearer and frequently empty would be Block 148's carpark."
"If the relevant authorities allow it, I wouldn't mind paying more for a season pass for Block 148's carpark. At least I do not need to walk that far each time."
1432 parking lots are enough
When contacted, a Housing Development Board (HDB) spokesperson said residents of Block 136 Yishun Ring Road are eligible to use Y4 and Y12's carparks.
The spokesperson said: "There are a total of 1432 parking lots available in Y4 and Y12, enough to meet the residents' demand."
HDB has also rolled out two measures to lighten the demand on the main carpark. Residents who live further away from the main carpark are advised to park elsewhere. HDB has also revoked overnight parking at the carpark.
HDB is also exploring the option of adding more lots to the carpark group. Currently a season ticket would allow you to park at a certain carpark group - made up of multiple carparks - in this case Y4 and Y12.
However, HDB cannot allow residents of Block 136 to park at Block 148's carpark because there are no more season passes available.
