Top 10 transport apps to make life easier

The days of the street directory are truly gone, it seems. And along with it, a host of other inconveniences such as seeing your bus move off just when you're reached the bus stop. Or taking the wrong bus.

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has listed out 10 most popular transport apps on its newly launched land transport portal, MyTransport.SG (www.mytransport.sg). The portal provides a one-stop access to all existing and new land transport electronic and mobile services.

Some of the apps in the top 10 list are what you might already have, such as the street-directory replacement, Google Maps.

A host of popular transport apps belong to the public transport category, such as SBS Transit iris, SG NextBus and SG Buses.

These apps, which can be found in the Apps Zone section of the website, tell you the approximate time of arrival of SBS Transit and SMRT buses at the bus stops. Some of these third-party applications also display bus routes, first- and last-bus times and bus stop numbers.

Other apps allow you to search for convenience services, carpark locations and rates and access to webcams that show traffic hotspots in Singapore.

To further encourage the development of third-party apps, LTA has opened the access of its transport data to third-party developers.

Check out the photo gallery below for the list of top 10 apps according to LTA, not in order.
