PUB, the national water agency, is carrying out repair works to a damaged underground pipe that carries treated used water to the open sea.

The damaged underground pipe is located underneath the centre lane of the three-lane East Coast Parkway expressway (ECP) in the direction of Changi Airport, right after the Bayshore Road exit.

The repair works are expected to be completed in two weeks time. During this period, a section of the centre lane will be closed to facilitate the repair works. In order to minimise any disruption to the traffic, a section of the expressway divider will be used to divert traffic. Directional signs will be put up to guide motorists who are advised to slow down when approaching this section of the ECP.

While repair works are on-going, the treated used water will be disinfected before being diverted into the Bedok Canal for discharge into the sea.

The public is advised to keep away from the waters in the canal as well as in the area of the sea where the canal joins the sea. The water quality in the area will be monitored closely by NEA and PUB.
