PORSCHE has unveiled a new 911 GT3 Cup car for the 2008 motorsport season with even more power. The car, which is raced in the Porsche Carrera Cup, has an extra 20 horses, which means the 3.6-litre flat-six engine now churns out 420 hp.

Also modified is the car's rear end to match the design of the production model, with air venting slits for better heat dissipation. The sequential six-speed transmission has also been optimised and the gear ratios adjusted to the characteristics of the engine. Weighing in at just 1,150 kg in race trim, the new 911 GT3 Cup has a power-to-weight ratio of 2.7 kg per horsepower.
