TANGKAK, MALAYSIA: A two-month-old baby girl miraculously escaped death but her parents, grandmother and brother, all from Singapore, were killed when the seven-seater vehicle they were in crashed against two trees along the North-South Expressway here.

Jolene Bong, who was flung more than 10m, was unscathed but her grandmother Pang Chee Seng, 68, mother Kor Yee Lin, 36, and brother Justin Bong, aged two, died on the spot while her father Bong Kwang Hong, 37, died at the Tangkak Hospital.

The Bong family, who was travelling in a seven-seater Mitsubishi vehicle, were headed north from Singapore when the car skidded along KM150 of the expressway.

The vehicle crashed into two trees along the expressway.

The baby and her father, who was seriously injured, were rushed to the Tangkak Hospital but the father succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.

Muar police said they would investigate the crash and urged those who witnessed the incident to come forward to assist in investigations.
