Fastlane: Costly mobile phone calls

Allianz Insurance has become the first company to treat hand-held mobile phone use while driving as seriously as careless driving offences.

DRIVERS in Britain convicted of using their mobile phone while on the move will see their insurance premiums increase by a third, reported the Daily Mail. Allianz Insurance has become the first company to treat hand-held mobile phone use while driving as seriously as careless driving offences. The average motor insurance policy is £629 (S$1,710), which means culprits face a hike in premiums of £208 a year.
