TOKYO - Toyota Motor Corp will halt production for two days at the end of this month on some Lexus luxury car lines at its Tahara Plant in central Japan, cutting back output as car sales fall, local media said on Tuesday.

Toyota will also stop production for two days around Dec. 25 at its Miyata Plant in southern Japan, the Yomiuri Shimbun and NHK said.

The automaker had already decided to cut production starting in January by doing away with night shifts at both plants, NHK said.

Toyota officials were not immediately available for comment.
