BEIJING, CHINA - A Chinese coal truck collided with a bus in the farwestern region of Xinjiang on Tuesday, killing 20 people and injuring 12, state media said.

The accident happened on Tuesday morning in Kuqa, Xinhua news agency said, adding that there were 29 passengers on the bus. China's roads are the deadliest in the world, with accidents killing about 100,000 people a year.

In September, 51 people were killed when a bus plunged into a 100-metre (330-ft) valley in mountainous Sichuan province.
